The Pemberton Riders Forum was created as a means for people in Pemberton (SouthWest area of Western Australia) and surrounding areas could discuss all things motorcycle related and to coordinate events.
The idea came about after a group ride was organised in December of 2017. The event was great, however the planning and coordination was cumbersome. There had to be a better way.
So, here we are. An online forum, run on a shoestring and free. At least for now.
The forum will probably change a lot until I work out how to make it look like something reasonable, so be patient.
To get to the real forum part, click on "Forum" at the top of this page next to "Home".
To create a login account, click on the link over on the right under the login area that says "Create an Account". Duh!
I am open to suggestions on how to make the forum better.
If somebody else wants to take on administering or hosting the group, or even help out, that would be great too.
We are currently hosted on an old laptop with a broken screen at my home. We are running a Linux operating system with Joomla content management with a Kunena forum component. All free stuff.
Why do I need a login?
One of the problems with having an open forum is that anybody can say anything with no accountablility.
While we do hope that people will behave and remember that anybody can read posts on this forum, including children, it is important that people own what they say and not hide behind anonymity.
Also, we have been bombarded by spammers wanting to have logins to sell their pirated movies etc. Most of these attempts are automated and originate mainly from Russia. I have been blocking a lot of the IP ranges that these attempts come from. Now the Chinese seem to be taking an interest.
Many of the discussion areas will only be available once you have logged in. Some general information areas are available for guests to view, but other areas, such as event planning, are for members eyes only.
